Hope....

Stephen Hawking is dead; the greatest living Physicist until yesterday is no more and not the greatest living anymore. Its, Sheer Irony, right? He believed the universe evolves according to well-defined laws; needless to say that includes us humans too.

BJP, has lost UP and Bihar Parliament bye- elections. Bravo, the voters!

We become manipulative over time, selfish and self-centered;  to be higher; ambitious in the process; judgments clouded by jealousy, insecurity, vulnerability; become  mean ; disgusting , human being; fail to reciprocate even  to our own soul; become soulless; sliver of hope, greedily lost in translation; and we all become too a good actors in due course.

Without the so called Dravidian politics or ideology, I shall not, where I am (and countless of us) from Tamil Nadu, as of today. 50 years of regional politics and governance in the south and especially in Tamil Nadu  brought about a massive   changes in social  equity, apart from overall improvement in health, education,  industrialization, IT, infra structure , crime, justice etc. Compared to most of Northern Indian states, the southern Indian states fare definitely higher in most of the indices as per the Social progress Index recent data.

Albeit, corruption and caste-ism have unfortunately, definitely, have pulled us all along, Southies and Tamilians,  reined us back from the forward march that began in the 1950's; and whatever development was achieved , with Kerala being an exception with a brilliant social justice theme spearheaded by so many stalwarts, Tamil Nadu failed to achieve, what it should have achieved though we have had more powerful stalwarts like Periyaar and Anna. My contention is, the transformation of  human ideologies, where selfishness and hypocrisy  intertwine, corrupting the mind and process ; become manipulative over time; selfish and self-centered; aiming to achieve higher; ambitious ; judgments clouded by jealousy, insecurity, vulnerability; become a mean human being; failing  even  to reciprocate to our own soul;  become soulless; sliver of hope, lost in translation; failing to rationalize or being logical whilst fed on superficial, gloating on our past; loud; and lacking in empathy.

The initial ploy of Justice movement to blame the upper castes for everything , had in fact boomeranged on itself ; in turn it became aimless; focus -less, angst- less; the ploy allowed the other castes to go up on ladder dethroning and occupying the same honor killing slots as upper castes, as before with landlord attitude worse than never ever before.

Casteism is ever so ripe in modern day India;  including Tamil Nadu; where  no decisions, no transactions, no judgement is passed, no festival is organised, no elections are contested, no business is done, no procurement is sought, no advertisement ( a brand of Puttu flour make  is called ‘ Brahmin” in Kerala, incidentally  where all, trained ,can become Priests in Hindu temples,) is aired, no deals are struck, no marriages are fostered, no temples are visited,no romantic liaisons nurtured,  no cremation ground is haunted; lest without visiting, where every Indian  psyche always ever been , CASTE; hence , caste  lives in every Indian psyche.

My children, during their short stint in a Chennai CBSE school few years ago, after relocating from UK, were duly asked by their class mates, now and then, whether they were Brahmins! Recently, a teacher at my daughter’s school, after a Parent Teacher meeting, queried my wife, very openly, once again, whether we were Brahmins!  I just sat there frozen, knowing not how to answer that ignorant teacher, who was in fact entrusted to teach (!) my daughter. No wonder a recent CBSE paper asked about the lowest of castes based on Varna dharma, to the youngest of the brains in India! 1500 years of hypocrisy and evil done in the name of caste should be phased out of Indian psyche. The landlord mentality of carving slaves out of financially, and socially backward human brethren,  bordering on fringe should be checked and chucked.

Transparency is the need. Demarcate, religion from Politics; and politics from caste-ism open up the altar and sanctum sanctum of temples for everyone; let anyone, trained enough should become priest in temples; Temples, especially in Tamil Nadu, where casteism strive to stay upper hand, harboring hate and hatred, fuming with social inadequacies, with the recurrent theme of flaring up unhealed wounds, where they are not purported to be.

Well I can’t finish off a blog without few sentences about Modiji. Modiji has done 4 years now as PM; has  managed to scrape through Gujarat, after spending Billions of rupees on canvassing and fake promises; his party currently ruling in 20 states , mostly where they are not supposed to be; still managing to lose lots of bye- elections including ; almost losing the absolute majority;  hoping to get back Karnataka; buying a plane for himself, which he may or may not be able to use after next elections; pseudo NRIs and patriotic Indians, muffled and almost shocked to disbelief, however still hopeful, about India’s progress with a chai-waala; and he eventually blurted out, to the chagrin of many linguists and fanatics alike in India and netherworld, “ Tamil is  the Oldest language of India, older than Sanskrit “ ; which no PM , or  any high office bearers of India had ever before dare to utter and  for which alone, me a language, religious and a caste  bigot (!) might favour him at the next elections and  with few supporting blogs too. As I have said before, Tamil, the oldest written and spoken language of the subcontinent and in Asia deserves more than these sparse acknowledgements, accolades.

Stephen Hawing once wrote that he had Motor neurone disease for practically all his adult life but said that it had not stopped him having an attractive family and being successful in his work.

"It shows," he said, "that one need not lose hope."

I hope too; sun is shining; and sun flowers too.
