Welcome to the Reality show !

Lots of things have happened since I have blogged the very last time. This including me and my better half attending the recent Indian republic Day dinner with the Indian high commissioner, here in Singapore (bit of a bragging to start with) and  also the fact that one of my best mates has now arrived in Singa recently from Manchester to join me here as my colleague. New year 2017 had just dawned and it’s already late for 2018. Pongal came and gone as usual with much fanfare, culturally, traditionally, symbolically, nostalgically putting me and my perspectives back in my seat and am already looking forward to the next festivity at home. Om Puri has already gone. J Jayalalithaa Aka Amma has disappeared for ever possibly suspiciously from Tamil Nadu’s and Indian radar forever; Muhammed Ali sensibly departed as he reached the pinnacle of his disability and possibly dementia; Carnatic music doyen Balamurali Krishna sang his way through; George Michael who introduced pop...

October musings....tad bit late.

Image
CM Amma is unwell and recuperating after a multi organ failure. Bless her. Whilst, Bengaluru is getting rid of its unwanted Tamil Nadu registered buses, Chennai seems to be bit sane and maintaining a restraint; saving an odd skirmish here and there. Well, the next super power of the world, called India, shall be fighting; not with its neighbor ; however for water and other natural resources, state versus  states; T Nadu versus Kerala; Andhra versus Tamil Naadu; Karnataka versus Tamil Naadu; Haryana versus Punjab; whilst the federal govt embroiled in petty politics would be a silent, passive observer! The lower riparian state gets the major advantage in water sharing policy, locally, nationally or internationally. Karnataka is in; T Nadu is off; Siruvaani dam is in; Supreme court is off; Megadadhu is in ; Karnataka is off; dams across AP; hapless TNadu with no big river to sustain it perennially, left at the mercy of the neighboring states; Indian federalism at its ...

September Musings!

He may be formless albeit brings joy and confidence; he may augur good luck and girls and boys alike, like him.   Hindus simply love him and others too, including the Chinese, especially here in Singapore. And I had seen him virtually everywhere in Bali. He is so cute; is so informal; ever so practical and friendly. I am expecting a big lunch today and am sure would be followed with a siesta by the adults, whilst me trying my tender (!) fingers on the clay, given as a kosuru (tips) by the Pillayaar vendor.   Mind you, I am way too young to try a scene out of “Ghost", which would not be shot until 1991. I would try different shapes and artifacts and leave them on a box as a safe hide out to dry them out; Amma as ever, would appreciate and encourage my creativity! I would be joining either Appa or Amma to the, market to procure a beautiful clay Pillayaar for ourselves; albeit the size of him would depend upon on our affordability ...

Musings from my Balcony.....

Image
Well Amma is once again given a chance to whack; by none other than Thatha and only Thatha. He, who could not get rid of his lust for power and had to opine just few days before the election, opening his bloody mouth, that he would be the CM until his death rather than portraying MK Stalin as a CM candidate, in my opinion has tilted the scale, few days before the elections; and the second reason , the untimely holy alliance with Congress. Again! Well, Thatha has done it again with his awful mouthing and his erstwhile sinking kattumaram simile must be smiling at him!! Me. Complete idiot and a stupid; Opinionated; Hypocrite; Arrogant; Straight forward; Abrasive; Judgmental; Paranoid; Laid back; Intuitive; Intelligent; language fanatic; high maintenance; overwhelming; omnipotent; mental; agnostic; stingy; greedy; lusty; flirt; canny; thick; music buff; food buff; master chef; boozer;  blogger; sweet talker and a smooth operator. Me . Exit polls predicted the con...

May Musings......

Image
I am glad that I was not born in Bihar. For obvious reasons. In T Nadu, Amma   is still hanging around in the dugout; freebies galore in the manifesto; rumors say that she is too unwell to canvass in the elections; Captain is unwell too; PWF seems to be struggling with Vaiko and Captain; as usual Vaiko has back tracked from contesting ; wrong decisions at the right moments for this hapless politician; Thatha seems to be the only one gearing up for the elections amongst the star campaigners; and little MK Stalin, whose campaign style seems very efficient and well received. Majority of pre pollsters have gone in favor of DMK; let see, if they come back with good governance in Tad as promised by their leader and CM in making! If DMK’s back in reckon in this election, after their massive rout in 2014 MP elections, it shall be because of MK Stalin! So most of you may have thought that I was possibly looking depressed; grumpy; and few may ha...

Pongalo Pongal - part two: Grand Pongal day!

Image
Well I am knackered and too tired to wake up anyway. It’s around 8 in the morning in Kanchi. The morning is still young and Sun has not gone stronger yet and I was still having a lie in with my cousins and few uncles on the terrace yard, where we slept last night after a protracted and an intense game of Thaaya Parisu (Sadhurangam) with the house hold folks. The lovely scent of early morning dew on my nostrils and the dampness on the bed sheets was so soothing and cozy and I almost forgotten that it’s the fourth day of Pongal celebrations (called Kaanum Pongal or sight-seeing Pongal), and our third day here in Kanchi; and sooner we have to leave; feel low, want to stay longer; well I am lazy and knackered, unlike the ladies of the household, cooking yet for millions and minions, incessantly without any grudge. Well, I could already smell the spicy chicken and mutton gravy or kuzhambu on the breakfast menu served traditionally with Idli’s and Pooris, at the back yard of our hug...
